News: Ford Ranger - The pick-up listens to its word

Ford donated a facelift to the pick-up ranger. The Germany bestseller in the small flatbed segment receives a refreshed exterior and interior design, revised engines and the brand's new infotainment technology. The ranger built in Thailand is currently making its debut at the Bangkok Motor Show. At the beginning of 2016 it should also be available in Germany.

The most striking change is the now trapezoidal chrome radiator grille with the flanking wide headlights. Inside there are new materials and a new eight-inch color display. The infotainment system will be brought up to date, now with voice control and mobile phone connection. Upgraded is the list of assistance systems, which now lists lane keeping aids, collision warning system and a reversing camera.

As usual, the revved Ranger will be available with either rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. As engines are two 2,2-liter four-cylinder diesel with 96 kW / 130 PS and 118 kW / 160 PS and a 147 kW / 200 PS strong 3,0-liter six-cylinder diesel to choose from. Compared to the previous versions, the engines have become stronger and more economical. The body variants are a single cabin, a single cabin with back seat and a double cabin. The closed off-road vehicle version of the Ranger, which is offered in Asia under the name Everest, is not expected to come to Germany.

The manufacturer does not yet quote prices nearly a year before the market launch. But they should be at the level of the current model, which is available from 26.716 Euro. Its competitors include VW Amarok, Mitsubishi L200 and Nissan Navara.
