The second generation of the is now available at a basic price of 30.150 euros Ford S-Max can be ordered. The basic model is powered by a 1,5 liter turbo gasoline engine with 118 kW / 160 hp, the equipment includes two-zone automatic climate control, sports seats and an emergency brake assistant. Delivery of the large van will start in September. Compared to the predecessor, the basic S-Max has only become 160 euros more expensive.
The other engine range consists of a 2,0-liter petrol engine with 176 kW / 240 PS and two 2,0-liter diesel engines with 88 kW / 120 PS and 155 kW / 210 PS. In addition to six-speed manual transmissions, there is also one with a double clutch for the first time, also with six stages. The average consumption of diesel engines is said to have decreased by seven percent. For the first time, the van is also available with all-wheel drive on request.
The optional equipment of the Vans based on Mondeo also includes a third row of seats, which turns the five-seater into a seven-seater. On the other hand, new features include LED headlights and an adaptive steering system that variably adjusts the gear ratio to the driving speed.
The optically only slightly modernized S-Max is only the first new family vehicle of the brand. The somewhat larger sister model, the Galaxy, is expected to be launched at the end of the year, and the technically similar mid-range Edge SUV will also be launched.
