Spain is stepping on the brakes. In cities things are now much slower.
In Spain there has been a strict speed limit in cities since May 11th. On roads with one lane for each direction, you can only travel a maximum of 30 km / h. Tempo 20 is mandatory on streets that have a single lane for both directions of travel without lane markings in the middle and sidewalks on one level. Multi-lane roads may continue to be driven at 50 km / h. The inner-city speed reduction should help avoid accidents and contribute to traffic calming.
Spain vacationers should stick to the speed limits. The ADAC points out that violations can result in hefty fines. If you are 20 km / h too fast, you have to pay at least 100 euros as a fine. Anyone who is over 50 km / h too fast must expect a fine of at least 600 euros.
