Airways U6

The SUV is followed by the CUV: Aiways from China wants to add a sister model to its U2020, which was launched in Germany in 5, this year.

The Chinese carmaker Aiways, which officially entered Germany in 2020, has now unveiled its second series model with the coupé SUV U6. The battery-electric four-door should also be available in Europe this year.

Outwardly, the U6 differs from the U5 primarily in its roofline sloping towards the rear like a coupé. A two-tone paintwork and various black add-on parts also make the U6 look sportier and more elegant. The front is dominated by large painted surfaces and large air openings. The LED headlights, on the other hand, are compact.

Inside, Aiways relies on a tidy cockpit largely without switches and buttons. Instead there is a central giant display. The “Grip Shift” in the center console is noticeable; it is similar to an accelerator lever for motor yachts, but is used to select the speed levels.

Details about the drive and battery have not yet been given. Presumably the same technology is used as in the U5, which is powered by a 140 kW / 190 PS electric motor with a 63 kWh battery. The latter offers a WLTP range of around 400 kilometers. Presumably, Aiways will position the U6 higher and accordingly demand a price above around 38.000 euros for the U5.
