Alfa Romeo puts his sports car 4C in the summer the long-awaited open variant aside. The Spider celebrates its premiere at the Detroit Auto Show (15 until 25, January).
It is only possible to open a narrow area between the windscreen and the roll bar directly behind the two seats. The roof module is optionally made of fabric or carbon and is stowed as a whole in the luggage compartment of the purist middle motor sportsman. Compared to the coupe, the body made of aluminum and carbon was strengthened to keep the vehicle torsionally rigid. The manufacturer promises but only a slight increase in weight.
Because in addition to the fresh air intake, the better audibility of the engine should be one of the main reasons for buying an 4C Spider, there are three exhaust systems to choose from. In addition to the standard version, there is a sports version and a once again tightened version of the known especially from the motorcycle industry specialist Akrapovic. It is recognizable by centrally emerging tailpipes with carbon fiber cladding.
Nothing changes in the drive. Behind the occupants of the well-known 1,8-liter turbo gasoline engine works with 177 kW / 240 PS, which conducts its power via a dual-clutch gearbox to the rear axle. So equipped sprinted the Spider in 4,5 seconds from zero to 100 km / h, the maximum speed is 258 km / h. Consumption should be similar to the coupe at 6,8 liters on 100 kilometers.
A price for the 4C Spider Alfa does not yet. The open version is likely to be around 4.000 Euro more expensive than the coupe and thus cost almost 55.000 Euro.
