Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Concept - Unique for the fifth time

Aston Martin, Zagato and Villa d'Este - these three names have stood for very special moments in automotive engineering for over fifty years. The long-standing partnership between the British sports car brand and the Italian body has now produced a new dream car: the Vanquish Zagato Concept, which can be admired for the first time from 21 to 22 May 2016 at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este.

The Vanquish Zagato is now the fifth vehicle from the cooperation between the two cult brands, which dates back to the DB1960 GT Zagato built in 4. The latest concept was developed in close collaboration with Zagato designers at the Aston Martin headquarters in Gaydon. There they decided on a new sheet metal dress made entirely of carbon. In order to minimize joints, the largest possible one-piece body parts were used. The outer skin, which is bursting with strength, is said to combine a typical Aston Martin design language with classic Zagato elements. The round LED rear lights or the double-bubble roof are typical of Zagato.

As a contrast to the outer skin painted in metallic red, the side windows together with the front window form an optical unit in the manner of a tinted helmet visor. On the steeply sloping rear of the Vanquish Zagato, a large diffuser made of visible carbon and two voluminous double tailpipes give a distinctly dynamic impression. Some details, such as the exterior mirrors or the front lights, were derived from the Aston Martin models One-77 and DB11.

With regard to the dynamic properties, the unique piece should emulate these exceptional athletes. The Vanquish's 5,9-liter V12 engine was pushed to 600 hp. The chassis, which is intended to enable even sportier handling, was also adapted to this. (Mario Hommen / SP-X)
