Audi TT Cup at the Norisring - rings free for round two

The third and fourth round of the new Audi Sport TT Cup will also take place at the Audi DTM home game at the Norisring. The start of the TT Cup season at the Hockenheimring shone with optically fantastic vehicles, but also with Tristesse at the race. We reported here.

At the Norisring, the Franconian Monaco and the only remaining German street circuit in the DTM calendar, everything should be different. Bike to bike Duels, wind shadow duels and weather capers made for two exciting cup runs.

On Saturday, rain dominated the first race day and turned the track into a wet slide. Not optimal for the drivers, but an experience for the spectators. By the equality of the vehicles under these circumstances, especially the driver can show his qualities.

Shaun Thong # 08 from Hong Kong coped best with these less than ideal conditions. The 19-year-old achieved a start-finish victory on Saturday from the first grid position and received the winner's cup from the hands of Head of Audi Motorsport Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich. Kisiel and Møller Madsen came second and third behind Thong.

Møller Madsen was then in the fourth run in sunshine and high temperatures, the man of the hour. He started from fifth on Sunday and took the lead in the eighth of 25 laps. At the finish, the 22-year-old clapped his hand on the roof of his Cup race car and celebrated his first victory of the season in the style of Hans-Joachim Stuck, who won the first DTM victory for Audi in the Audi V25 quattro before 8 Norisring celebrated. At the finish, Møller Madsen had 2,737 seconds ahead of Jan Kisiel (PL). Third was Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky (S), who in the previous year in the VW Scirocco R-Cup was the first and only woman to clinch a victory in the one-make cup.

In the overall standings of the Audi Sport TT Cup, Møller Madsen is in the lead after the second race weekend with 85 points. Jan Kisiel (65 points) and Dennis Marschall (D, 56 points) follow in second and third place.

The next rounds of the Audi Sport TT Cup will take place on the 1. and 2. August at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg (A).
