Back in the "Green Hell": Subaru starts at the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring

Subaru Tecnica International (STI), the Motorsport subsidiary from Subaru, will compete in this year's 24-hour race at the Nürburgring (May 20-21, 2023). For the 14th time, the Japanese brand will be at the start of this long-distance classic on what is probably the toughest racetrack in the world. The route stretches over 25 kilometers and includes the famous Nordschleife, which, in addition to tight bends and hairpin bends, also has height differences of 300 meters. The traditionally changeable weather conditions in the region pose an additional challenge Eifel period.

Nevertheless, the Subaru plans W NBR CHALLENGE 2023 in the “SP4T” category, which is for vehicles with Turbo engines between 2,0 and 2,6 liters is intended to strive for the next class victory. The racing car is based on the Subaru Global Platform and uses the basic layout of symmetrical all wheel drive and Boxer engine. For the drivers, Subaru relies on the regular drivers Carlo van Dam (Netherlands) and Tim Schrick (Germany), who have competed for the brand in the Eifel region for years. The two Japanese teammates Hideki Yamauchi and Takuto Iguchi complete the quartet. Hideharu Tatsumi is serving as the general manager, Takuya Sawada is the team manager, and Naoki Shibuya is the project manager for the development of the new racing car responsible. Eight selected service technicians from Subaru dealers throughout Japan will support the team again this year.
