Volkswagen sells one of its twelve brands: luxury sports car maker Bugatti will be part of the Croatian electric car manufacturer Rimac. But VW is not completely gone.
Volkswagen sells the majority of the super sports car manufacturer Bugatti to the Croatian electric car maker Rimac. This will in future hold 55 percent of the shares in the French brand, the rest will go to Porsche, which was previously co-owners with 24 percent. The VW group therefore remains indirectly involved in Bugatti.
The new company Bugatti-Rimac is to bundle the hypercar experience of the French with the electrical know-how of the Croatians. Both brands are initially continuing to build their models, the Bugatti Chiron super sports car and the Rimac Nevera e-bolide. Jointly developed Bugatti models are intended for the future, certainly with electric drives. The luxury cars will continue to be produced in the Bugatti factory in Molsheim, France.
