News: Cadillac CT6 - With new flagship against German premium

With the Cadillac From the end of the year, CT6 wants to compete seriously against the Mercedes S-Class, BMW 7 Series, Audi A8 or Lexus LS again. At the New York Auto Show (April 3 to 12), the Americans will be presenting their new flagship and not saving with superlatives. For example, Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen claims that the CT6 is a "completely new approach to luxury".

Among other things due to the use of aluminum, the Americans promise a particularly light vehicle. At 5,18 meters in length - slightly more than 7er BMW and S-Class have - the CT6 should be lighter than an 5er BMW (about 1,8 tons). Among other things, the drive is a completely new 3,0-liter twin-turbo V6 used, which makes more than 400 PS and 543 Newtonmeter torque. Cylinder shutdown should also provide good fuel economy as the eight-speed automatic. Basically, the rear wheels are driven, optionally turns four-wheel drive for better handling automatically, if required by the driving situation. Thanks in part to active rear-axle steering and adaptive dampers, the CT6 is said to be decidedly dynamic, according to Cadillac.

As far as assistance systems, comfort and connectivity are concerned, the Ami offers much that is also state-of-the-art for other premium manufacturers in this class, such as the 360 degree camera, pedestrian recognition in the dark, operation via a large touch screen, WLAN. Hotspot or massage seats. But there are also some novelties, such as a kind of integrated Dashcam, which completely absorbs what is happening around the car - also as theft protection with activated security system.

To Europe comes the new Cadillac flagship 2016. The American luxury brand has since the expiry of the DTS in the year 2011 no real top-class model on offer.
