In the past 3 years, the willingness of German prospective buyers to buy a car with an alternative or battery-electric drive has increased significantly. While in 2019 23 percent of the participants in a DAT survey were probably planning to purchase a hybrid or plug-in hybrid, by May 2022 it was already 32 percent. Approval for an e-car rose from 8 to 22 percent in the same period. The popularity of a diesel fell from 17 to 11 percent. At 33 percent, the petrol engine is still in the lead among prospective buyers, but in 2019 49 percent still appreciated this type of drive.
