For three years, the van duo Citroen C4 Picasso and C4 Grand Picasso on the market. For the summer 2016 is now the regular model care, which brings the family van double a few optical refinements, some new assistance systems and an automatic version of the base gasoline.
If you want to see the difference, you have to look closely at the new C4: a little more chrome trim in the slightly modified front, new taillights with 3D effect, a two-tone roof for the shorter version C4 Picasso and silver roof arches for the Grand make for a bit more attractiveness. In addition, the French have added three new exterior colors and new 17 inch Alus in the program.
The interior is as usual: tidy, chic and functional. Depending on the body variant, it offers seats for up to 7 persons or space for 1.790 liters of luggage. If desired, the tailgate can also be opened by foot movement. If you wag your feet with your hands under the rear apron, the tailgate opens automatically.
Citroen has upgraded its assistance systems. For all equipment levels, for example, there is a new fatigue warning. A traffic sign recognition, if desired by the driver, automatically adjust the speed of the cruise control to the applicable limit. In the future, the Blind Spot Assist will visually point in the exterior mirror to vehicles that are currently in the dead corner. If the driver ignores this warning and starts the lane change without a turn signal, the steering becomes sluggish. Completely new is the emergency brake system Active Safety Brake, which warns of imminent collisions, initiates emergency braking in the event of danger and thus reduces the collision severity or, at low speeds, can completely prevent an accident. However, the Active Safety Brake Citroen will only offer 2016 from November.
Citroen has also modernized its infotainment system. Here is a new networked 3D navigation called Connect Nav used. Together with a new 7 inch touchscreen, Citroen promises a faster response time and new networked services. It offers, for example, the integration of real-time traffic information into the route guidance. In addition, it will be possible in future to use apps that have been installed on the smartphone via the touchscreen. Here are the Connect systems Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and from the end 2016 MirrorLink used.
As before, Citroen will offer the two Picassos with two petrol units with 130 or 165 PS as well as three diesel engines with a performance spectrum from 99 to 150 PS. So far, the French have offered the 96 kW / 130 PS strong base gasoline engine alone in combination with a manual six-speed transmission, alternatively there will be an automatic version in the future. With that, the C4 Picasso should be up to 201 km / h fast; the manufacturer specifies the standard consumption of the 130 Pure Tech with 5,1 liters.
In Germany, the refreshed van duo will be launched in summer 2016. Citroen does not name any prices yet. Presumably, these will increase slightly. Thus, the basic version should cost in future to 22.000 Euro. (Mario Hommen / SP-X)
