While Peugeot and Opel rely mainly on power in the hybrid versions of their compact SUV, corporate sister Citroen has a more frugal and price-sensitive clientele in view.
From 40.390 Euro, the Citroen C2020 Aircross with plug-in hybrid drive will be available from mid-5 onwards. The compact SUV is powered by an 165 kW / 224 PS strong combination of four-cylinder gasoline engine and electric motor, the power transmission to the front wheels takes an eight-speed automatic transmission. As an electrical range, the manufacturer gives around 50 kilometers, as CO2 emissions 39 grams per kilometer.
The hybrid variant is priced at the top of the range in the series. The cheapest petrol engine with 96 kW / 130 hp is available from 23.450 euros, the 132 kW / 180 hp diesel for 33.190 euros. However, compared to its model brothers Opel Grandland X Hybrid, Peugeot 3008 GT Hybrid and DS7 Crossback E-Tense 4 × 4, the Citroen is a bargain. The three cost at least around 50.000 euros, but are much more powerful with 221 kW / 300 hp and also have all-wheel drive. It is still unclear whether the strong version of the plug-in hybrid technology will also be used at Citroen.
