A sports version of the cheap car Dacia Sandero has now celebrated its premiere at the Motor Show in Buenos Aires (19 until 28 June). The small car, nicknamed RS, is slated to be launched in Latin America later this year. However, under the logo of the sister brand Renault.
The Renault Sandero RS is powered by a 2,0-liter naturally aspirated engine, which delivers 107 kW / 145 horsepower and should ensure a top speed just above 200 km / h. There is also a revised chassis, the ESP anti-skid device and disc brakes all around. In Germany, Sandero, built on the basis of the Clio III, is the cheapest new car on the market with around 7.000 Euro, while in Argentina it is still undercut by the Clio Mio, a modernized version of the European Clio II.
The Sandero RS is the first sports model of the Renault group to be built outside of Europe. In this country are currently offered in the RS series, the small car Renault Clio (147 kW / 200 PS) and the compact Renault Mégane (195 kW / 265 PS), sports models from Dacia does not exist.
