Only about a year ago, Ford hurried to Ecosport from South America to Europe to participate in the boom in the mini-SUV. Because the small crossover in this country but not as good as desired, there is now an early revision. It can be seen for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show (5 until 15, March).
Most important change: The spare wheel at the tail is from a non-selectable standard to the free option equipment. Thus, the only available with front-wheel drive five-door adapts more closely to the design of its segment competitors, who largely refrain from off-road echoes. In addition, the interior will be higher quality thanks to new plastics. And the suspension is also revised.
Originally developed with Fiesta technology Ecosport was originally developed purely for the South American market. Accordingly, the design and quality feel are different from European preferences. Unsurprisingly, Brazil's crossover 2014, with just 2.915 new registrations in Germany, was one of the laggards in a booming class. For comparison: Segments-Primus Opel Mokka came in the same period to almost 28.000 new registrations. However, Ford Germany also did not expect a huge demand and initially ordered only 4.000 units in Brazil.
