The new Twingo comes with a fresh design and an even fresher technique. Thanks to a fruitful collaboration with the Daimler subsidiary smart, the new Twingo got a completely new technology platform and that means: The engine is now sitting behind!
Renault Twingo, the rebirth of the cheeky small car
Rear engine and rear-wheel drive provide for special talents. The new Twingo got a turning circle that will make other small cars pale with envy. 8.65 meters and therefore almost one meter less than usual in this class. The rear engine and the rear-wheel drive also ensure a completely new sense of space in the small Frenchman. In addition, the design is completely new and refreshingly different.
It shrank in length Twingo by ten centimeters to 3 meters 59 - but the wheelbase grew by 13 centimeters to 2 meters 49. That means short overhangs and a crisp layout. Driving pleasure should be included.
The new Twingo will only appear on the market as a five-door hatchback. And he also wants to impress with variability in the interior. For example, the space between the instrument panel and the tailgate grew by 22 centimeters - proof of the new space. The backrest of the rear seat bench can be folded down to reveal a loading space 1.35 m deep. The backrest of the front passenger seat can also be folded down - boards up to a length of 2.20 meters can then be loaded.
The new Twingo starts with two three-cylinder petrol engines. The The top engine is the turbo engine TCe 90 with 90 PS. The 898 cubic centimeter engine mobilizes a maximum torque of 135 Nm and meets the Euro 6 emissions standard. Automatic start & stop is standard.
The basic engine is a naturally aspirated engine - baptized: SCe 70 and draws 999 kW / 51 hp from 70 cubic centimeters of displacement. Renault promises that this engine will also get on the road with enough torque. So driving fun is right at the top of the agenda for the little French.
