GMC Hummer EV SUV

Over five meters long, over 800 hp - what sounds like an oversized car is actually the small version of the new Hummer.

General Motors has revived Hummer as an electric sub-brand of GMC and has already introduced a mighty pick-up. Now the SUV variant has been unveiled in the USA, which is a little more compact and will offer a little less power than the pick-up.

With its roughly five-meter-long body and 3,22-meter wheelbase, the Hummer EV remains a stately vehicle as an SUV. The same also applies to the drive. The basis is the new Ultium Drive e-platform, which uses three e-motors for the most powerful drive variant, which together provide 601 kW / 830 PS. The pick-up has 1.000 hp. Despite less horsepower, the sprint to 100 km / h should be possible in less than four seconds. Ultium also stands for an 800-volt architecture with particularly large batteries. In the case of the Hummer SUV, one charge in the top version should be enough for more than 500 kilometers. It can also be charged with up to 350 kW, which allows you to refuel with electricity for 160 kilometers in ten minutes.

A special feature of the Hummer EV is its all-wheel steering, which allows all wheels to be turned in parallel and thus also diagonally driven. This driving mode is called crab walk. Together with the smaller turning circle thanks to the steering rear wheels, the SUV should offer more maneuverability off-road than normal SUVs.

The SUV will be available in the US in early 2023. The two-engine basic version EV2 should produce 460 kW / 625 PS and offer a range of around 400 kilometers. Their price is the equivalent of around 67.000 euros excluding taxes.
