Goodwood 2013 - first impressions

England? Constant rain? Cloudy views and fog everywhere? My time in Goodwood is accompanied by a merciless sun, brooding 30 ° and the only thing that from time to time dazzles more than the sun are the white legs that are occasionally put on display by the beauties of this island.

Goodwood - Motor Maniac Mecca -2013

Italy may be the country of love for beautiful cars, but England is definitely home to motorsport. There are racetracks in every corner and ordinary country roads give the impression that you are on the driveway to the green hell. There can be no other place in the world for this festival. Goodwood.

2013 is the XNUMXth anniversary and people have long been talking about this event as a “legendary event”.

Festival of Speed

A Grand Prix for all vehicle classes, a motorsport party for everything that produces engine sound and the hunt for times takes place on a mountain race track that is “lovely” embedded in the extensive woods in the south of England. At no other event do spectators get to see more vehicles from so many different motorsport disciplines and across all decades.

The whole event is thanks to an English count who is crazy about motorsport, the Lord March. Or as its real name is: Charles Gordon-Lennox, Earl of March and Kinrara. I owe my trip to the count's country estate to an idea from my namesake Björn Marek (press spokesman for ABT sportsline). “Whether I would like to go on a road trip to Goodwood” was his (nagging) question.

Road trip from Rodgau to the racing playground

I already had it on Friday posted, it went to Goodwood with 1.890 hp. The biggest tuner for Volkswagen and Audi in Germany had no slouch and brought four fascinating vehicles to the start for the trip to Goodwood. It all started from the ABT branch in Rodgau, south of Frankfurt.

Abbot road trip - Goodwood

Much more about the road trip itself will be available as soon as I get back. Because still - it's just halfway through, the journey home is still waiting for us and I haven't driven the ABT AS8 yet 🙂 I can confirm that an AS6-R with a crew of three and a trunk loaded up to the roof leaves - thanks to its (at least) 600 hp, an F430 easily standing at 200 when sprinting. Where it was possibly just the driver of the Ferrari 😉

..more to come..soon 🙂
