Toyota's Mirai gets competition: too Honda has with the Clarity Fuel Cell a production-ready new saloon with fuel cell drive in the program. The sale of the mid-range model has already begun in the domestic market in Japan. The Clarity comes to Europe from September. For now, however, only to Britain and Denmark, Germany should follow.
The fuel cell sedan can accommodate five people. The drive system is small according to the manufacturer and takes up about as much space as a V6 drive. The range of the 177-PS-Companion is up to 700 kilometers. Within three minutes, the Clarity should be fully fueled.
Honda had already launched a small series of fuel cell sedans on the market in 2007 with the FCX Clarity. The limousine was only available to a small group of leasing customers. It is unclear whether the new model will start on a larger scale. Competitor Toyota has already had a production model on the road for several months with the similarly tailored Mirai. The starting price is 78.540 euros, but Toyota actually only offers the Mirai as a lease - for 1.219 euros per month.
