Jaguar Heritage Racing - Jaguar creates its own racing team with historic racing cars

The British car brand Jaguar has established its own team for the use of historic racing cars - Jaguar Heritage Racing. Just in time for the 90th anniversary of the founding of the company by Sir William Lyons, the Jaguar Heritage Team will compete at the Oldtimer GP at the Nürburgring this year. They also want to start at the Mille Miglia in Italy and the Goodwood Revival Meeting in England. C-TYPE and D-TYPE racing cars are used, such as those that won Le Mans five times in the 1950s.

The last time factory-supported Jaguar D-Types and C-Types competed at circuits such as the Nürburgring or Goodwood was in 1956. However, the first official date for Jaguar Heritage Racing is in Italy: at the Mille Miglia, which takes place from May 17th to May 20th. 60 years ago the legendary tour led from Brescia to Rome and back. Stirling Moss and Jaguar chief tester Norman Dewis drove the first C-TYPE with disc brakes together. Just a few weeks later, Moss clinched his first victory with such a vehicle in Reims.

The AvD Oldtimer GP at the Nürburgring in the Eifel is on the program for the second weekend in August, followed by the Goodwood Revival Meeting. Jaguar Heritage Racing will also be present at the Concours d'Élégance in Pebble Beach California and at all rounds of the E-TYPE Challenge, which is being held for the second time in 2012.

JD Classics from Maldon in Essex is responsible for the preparation of the motorsport heroes as well as the entire operational planning and logistics. The Jaguar specialists are also preparing two Jaguar XK 120s from 1952 for the Mille Miglia. Among them is the record-breaking vehicle with a coupé body (LWK 707) that became famous as the “Seven days, seven nights” XK.
