The number of new electric car registrations rose significantly in July. According to figures from the Federal Motor Transport Authority, 962 cars with purely electric drives rolled onto the road, 61 percent more than in the same month last year. The most successful model was the 211 new registrations Kia Soul EV, the BMW i3 followed in second place with 194 new registrations including the range extender models. The VW E-Golf came third with 189 units.
The number of new plug-in hybrid cars was 944 units in July. Compared to the same month last year, this means an increase of 105 percent. The bestsellers of this type of drive are not clear from the KBA statistics.
