Lada: Comeback of the Niva

The Lada Niva, which has been built since 1976, will probably no longer make the 50. The parent company Renault has now announced a successor for 2024 and other new models.

The new “Renaulution” strategy of Groupe Renault envisages, among other things, a bundling of the activities of the Dacia and Lada brands in the coming years. In future, the platforms of both Renault brands are to be reduced from four to one B-segment platform. At the same time, Renault wants to raise the profile of Dacia and Lada as international brands with new models.

Lada should be perceived as a robust and Russian brand outside of Russia. One wants to consolidate this image with a new edition of the Niva announced for 2024, which will probably be available again in Western Europe in its new form. Last year Lada officially withdrew from the German market. Renault has published a concept sketch under the title “Niva Vision”, which shows an angular SUV that is probably suitable for off-road use. The picture shows a modern LED daytime running light design and large Niva lettering in the radiator grille. However, there are no Lada symbols.

In addition to the new edition of the 45-year-old Niva, Renault has also announced two more Lada models in the B segment for 2023. In addition, the strategic plan provides for a C-segment model for 2025. Like the other series, it will be based on one platform, but extended to a larger format.
