Lamborghini plans

Lamborghini wants to cut the CO2 emissions of its sports cars in half through electrification. A pure electric model is also planned.

Lamborghini plans to launch its first all-electric car in the second half of this decade. This has now been announced by company boss Stephan Winkelmann. The four-seater is to open up a new segment for the Italian Audi subsidiary and should use a group platform for the technology.

The existing model range, consisting of the Huracan and Aventador sports cars and the Urus SUV, is to be hybridized by the end of 2024. The small-series athlete Sian with its 48-volt hybrid drive could serve as a model; plug-in hybrids with higher electrical power are also conceivable. The goal is a 50 percent reduction in CO2 emissions from vehicles from 2025. The VW subsidiary plans to invest around 1,5 billion euros for this.
