Lotus Elise Sprint - Lean diet for hunger pangs

Lotus has turned again at the Elise on the weight screw. Elise Sprint is the now under 800 kilogram weighing Roadster

If there is a car that does not need a diet, this is the English sports roadster Elise. But Lotus has once again turned on the weight screw, and with the version Sprint undercut the 800 kilogram sound barrier. At 798 kilograms, the new dry weight has dropped.

Saved was in several places. Largest item with 9 kilograms is a lithium-ion battery as a replacement for the classic lead acid battery. Carbon race shells save 6 kg, forged aluminum wheels 5 kg, the new brakes 4 kg. The polycarbonate rear window and some carbon components also melt the pounds. Also worth seeing in the interior is the light-weight paneling on the sides for the gearshift lever, thanks to which some of the mechanics are exposed.

The version Sprint is available in the two available engine variants with 100 kW / 136 or 162 kW / 220 PS. Thanks to the weight reduction shorter sprint times should be in each case. The weaker Elise sprints from standstill to 100 km / h in 6,3 seconds, the stronger version called for it takes 4,5 seconds.
