Mazda wants his CX family expand significantly worldwide. The youngest member of the SUV gang is the CX-50.
Mazda is continuing the global expansion of its CX family. The Japanese have now published the first pictures of the compact SUV CX-50, which will premiere at the LA Auto Show (November 19-28) and will be launched in the USA in spring 2022.
The CX-50 does not lack performance
Technically, the robust appearance of the five-door is a close relative of the compact models 3 and CX-30. The CX-50 shares the platform with these, but it is larger and offers more space inside. The new model is powered by a 2,5-liter gasoline engine, which is optionally available as a naturally aspirated or turbo engine with 139 kW / 190 PS or 186 kW / 253 PS. The petrol engines are both coupled with intelligent all-wheel drive and six-speed automatic. Later there will also be a hybrid version of the CX-50.
In the USA, Mazda plans to expand its range of SUVs in the near future to include the new CX-70 and CX-90 series. A similar expansion of the SUV portfolio above the CX-5 is pending for Europe. A five-seat CX-60 and a seven-seat CX-80 are planned for the next two years. Both will be based on a new rear-wheel drive platform from the brand. For the drive, plug-in hybrids or a mildly hybridized in-line six-cylinder, which will be available as diesel and petrol.
