New e-cars from MG

The British brand MG wants to score points on the continent with e-cars. The range is growing, and two new models are due to be launched this year.

MG announces more electric cars for mainland Europe. The traditional British brand in Chinese ownership wants to add another SUV to its sales program with the Marvel R and has also announced the first electric station wagon under the name MG5.

The start is to be made in May with the Marvel R Electric, which, with a length of 4,67 meters, is located above the already available compact SUV MG ZS EV. With its closed front and curved shoulder line, it appears much more modern than this one. Different variants with up to three electric motors are available for the drive, in the top model the system has 212 kW / 288 PS and all-wheel drive. According to the manufacturer, the range is beyond 400 kilometers. Electricity can be refueled using an 11 kW on-board charger; alternatively, the battery on the fast charger should be half full in around 30 minutes.

For October, MG announces the compact model MG5 Station Wagon, which is likely to be the first electric series station wagon, at least in Europe. With a length of 4,54 meters and a luggage compartment volume of up to 1.456 liters, it fits into the usual segment dimensions. Under the bonnet, a 135 kW / 184 PS electric motor drives the front wheels, the range is also specified at around 400 kilometers, and the charging time on the fast charger is 30 minutes. Both models should be capable of bidirectional charging.

Prices for the two British with China technology are not yet known. It is also still unclear where exactly the models will be sold in Germany. The importer has not yet named official dealers.
