Mini Strip: Made naked

How little is enough? Has Mini asked and be Small car model Let it be reduced to the essence.

Together with the designer Paul Smith, BMW's small car subsidiary has now tried out what a maximally sustainable Mini could look like. The Briton has completely gutted the electrically powered Cooper SE and reduced it to the essentials. The result is the Mini Strip show car, which is now celebrating its premiere in London.

From the outside, the resource-saving program can already be recognized by the lack of colored paint. Only a thin transparent layer protects the bare sheet metal from corrosion. The plastic parts at the front and rear come from the 3D printer and show the typical structure. In the interior, Smith has removed everything that he sees as superfluous, including large parts of the door panel, center console cover and dashboard. Leather and chrome are not used; instead, sustainable materials such as cork, knitted wool and recycled rubber are used.

Mini wants the minimalist approach to be understood as a thought impulse for future models. A series implementation of the strip study is not planned.
