Driving Report Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback

No reason to look grim.

Power diesel times have dawned at Mitsubishi. After some time and many different engine suppliers (including VW), Mitsubishi has now developed its own 1.8l direct injection diesel. This unit, which is bursting with modern technology, now also benefits the competitor from the lower middle class. The Lancer family is characterized by an impressive radiator grille and a grim facial expression and yet the models of the Japanese manufacturer are seldom conspicuous on our streets. However, this cannot be due to the price. The Mitsubishi Lancer we drove in the Sportback version and the 150PS diesel engine came to an offer price of € 21.480. This is due to the special version named “Extra” by Mitsubishi.

[one_third last = "no"] The front: Mitsubishi started some time ago and has taken the trend for large and concise front designs. The grille design of the Mitsubishi Lancer is intended to remind of the air intake of a fighter jet. For something like that builds the Mitsubishi Group.

More than golf: The Lancer is above all in its Sportback variant a competitor in the so-called golf class. And yet Mitsubishi offers a competitor that offers plenty of space with a significantly larger wheelbase and more overall length, especially on the rear seat. [/ One_third]

Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback 150PS Diesel

Large interior, well above the class standard. A complete equipment and that combined with a potent and economical diesel engine.

In the haptics of the materials used in the interior no dreams are fulfilled on Japanese onsen. What the fingers feel is more like Duisburg Baroque. But as pragmatic as it is useful. And the workmanship corresponds to Japanese meticulousness. Whereby there are now bright spots in the appearance and elegance of the formerly old-fashioned instruments. Clearly drawn and with a simple elegance whose grace is a little shy hidden behind cheap plastics.

The driver and front passenger sit comfortably, but without lateral support - but with a convincing sense of space for this class. The arrangement of the switches and buttons takes a little getting used to, but is not quite as complicated as with a Mitsubishi jet.

For the passengers on the 2.ten seat is well taken care of. Neither do grown-up people have to worry about their knees, nor would the purchase in the Swedish furniture market be faced with unbridgeable obstacles. The split folding rear seat leaves room for riders and the new basement shelf. Talent-free cars are different.

The large tailgate of the Sportback model is a practical plus, the giant rear spoiler sitting on it but probably rather unnecessary for the intended target group.

[toggle title = ”Benefits“] The biggest advantage of the Lancer Sportback“ Extra ”is its price. And we don't mean that disrespectfully. On the contrary. It's good when the steadily rising new car prices are finally stopped. The “Extra” edition of the Lancer Sportback with its great diesel simply offers an unbeatable price-performance ratio. Other talents of the Lancer are its splendid engine and the convincing space ratio. [/ toggle] [toggle title = ”Disadvantages“] Hard plastic landscapes and little elegance in the design of the interior. In addition to the exaggerated rear spoiler, these are the only points of criticism that you can address to the Lancer with a clear conscience. You can't go wrong with the Lancer special model “Extra”.

Anyone looking for “best value for the money” will find what they are looking for in the Sportback with its 150 HP diesel engine and excellent equipment. The Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback is a car for small families and for people who don't have to wear their fur outside. Regardless of whether it is a brisk stretches of the motorway with the family on vacation or a trip with friends to go shopping. The Lancer is a pleasant companion with good morals.

Even if there are cars that offer better chassis comfort or can shine with more prestige in a parking lot, it is still a pleasurable temptation to resist the vain glamor of the external image of a premium manufacturer and instead find out about the very good price every time you drive. Performance ratio of the Lancer Sportback EXTRA to look forward to.

The buyer of the Lancer really only has to put back when transferring the purchase amount - the car of his wishes shines with really good arguments instead.
