SP-X / Munich. About half a year after the limousine, the BMW 3er also comes on the road as a station wagon in autumn. The Touring is larger in comparison to its predecessor, but still does not count to the loaders of the segment. Instead, but the most clever station wagon. The prices start at 41.500 Euro.

Like the four-door model available since March, the station wagon has also grown slightly and now measures 4,71 meters from the kidney to the tailgate. At the same time, the space available in the cargo hold increases both in full seating (plus 5 liters) and in folded rear seats (plus 10 liters). However, the most important advantage of Touring remains not the still comparably narrow trunk volume (500 to 1.510 liters), but the numerous practical details. So there is, among other things, as standard, an electric tailgate, a separately opening rear window and an electric backrest release. A three-part folding rear seat, retractable anti-slip rails and a storage compartment for roller blind and dividing net complete, sometimes for an additional charge, the combination program.

BMW sends the new 3er Touring into the race

Optically, the Touring of the sedan is similar, with the exception of the rear. The interior features the new digital cockpit with the latest infotainment generation and voice control. The standard features include speed limit display, lane departure warning and emergency brake assist with pedestrian and cyclist recognition. In addition, autonomous driving functions, head-up display and a reversing assistant are available, which automatically follows the forward driven course when resetting.

For the drive are initially three gasoline and three diesel to choose from. In the entry level 320i works an 2,0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with 135 kW / 184 PS, ranked above a 190 kW / 258 PS strong variant, top model is the M340i with 3,0-liter six-cylinder and 275 kW / 374 PS, always coupled with four-wheel drive. On the diesel side, two 2,0 LIter twin-cylinders with 110 kW / 150 PS and 140 kW / 190 PS complete the offer. The alternatively offered 3,0-liter six-cylinder makes 195 kW / 265 PS and is always combined with all-wheel technology. Next year, a plug-in hybrid drive will be added later.

The cargo space has grown

Compared to its predecessor, prices have risen slightly. The remained as 320i still just below the 40.000 Euro mark. A bit cheaper should be the new but still when the entry-level gasoline and diesel come on the market.
