The top 5 in Germany: compact class

Even if there were repeated problems with the software on the Golf 8, some materials are visibly subject to the need to save and no model can produce less than 20.000 euros, the Golf remains the German driver's favorite child.

At the beginning of the year, we took on the hit parade of cars in Germany and determined the top 5 in the most important categories. Among the compacts, three related ones make it into the top 5.

You shouldn't copy them, the compact ones. The former Volkswagens are still finding a considerable number of buyers. Above all, by far the model that gave the whole class its name.

Its rather sporty chassis set-up is one of the most routine in the industry, as is the good quality and use of space, the small Eco-Boost engines are known for their high performance with low consumption. The SYNC 3 multimedia system listens to your word and finally manages with fewer buttons; the basic equipment is generous.

But based on the MQB Evo platform of the VW Golf, but with a slightly longer wheelbase. The station wagon with a load volume of 640 to 1700 liters is still the most popular. The quality is excellent, the space is extremely generous and the handling is golf-like. The Octavia is fully networked, the infotainment system with a display of up to ten inches is essentially the same as that of the Golf 8.

Innovative technology, high connectivity, assistance systems from the luxury class and the MBUX multimedia system, which gets to know the driver better and better over time, using artificial intelligence. While seats, quality and comfort justify the confident prices, noise insulation and space are only average. If you want, you can get all-wheel drive and up to 421 hp in the A sedan.

Seat Leon

37 310

The third Golf brother also makes it into the top 5. The beautiful Seat Leon, for everyone who wants a bit more spicy golf. Because the fourth generation has a five centimeter longer wheelbase, there is plenty of space in the back. In the Leon cockpit, which works almost without buttons, much is reminiscent of the Golf. Except that the Spaniard's voice control reacts to "Hola, Hola". Seat gets assistance systems and connectivity from the group shelf. When driving, Leon is more sporty than his German brother, without being uncomfortable.
