Even in the Corona crisis, most of the imported vehicles come from Japan. But another country is close behind.
France is catching up, but Japan remains number one: with a market share of 8,4 percent, the Asian country remains the most important supplier for car imports to Germany, according to the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA). In the previous year, 8,7 percent of all new cars were imported from Japan. On the other hand, France has grown: The share of French brands increased from 7,4 to 8,0 percent. The third most important country of origin remains the Czech Republic with 6,2 percent (2019: 5,8 percent). The USA achieved the greatest growth, with the number of cars imported from there increasing by 9,5 percent. The market share of US manufacturers increased from 0,8 to 1,2 percent.
