The car industry in Germany has spent considerably more money on advertising for 2014 than in the previous year. Print ads, radio spots, cinema and Internet advertising gave manufacturers and importers 2,43 billion euros, as the journal "Automobilwoche" citing an evaluation of the market research firm Nielsen reports. Compared to the previous year, this means an investment increase of 8,5 percent.
The highest advertising expenditure was market leader Volkswagen with 292 millions of euros. It followed Daimler without Smart with 176 million euros and Ford with 147 million euros. The Cologne also spent the most money for the promotion of a single model: 34,86 million euros they had the campaign for the small car Fiesta cost. This equates to an amount of 770 Euro per newly registered car in this model series.
