More range for e-cars - now it's enough from the Ruhr area to Frankfurt

Electric cars keep getting ahead

Electric cars keep going: On average, the battery lasts for the distance from Munich to Frankfurt, at least as the crow flies.

SP-X / Munich. The average range of electric cars sold worldwide is increasing rapidly. In the fourth quarter of 2018, it was 221 kilometers, which, according to statistics from the consulting agency Alix Partners, corresponds to an increase of 13 percent or 45 kilometers compared to the same quarter of the previous year. The German average is likely to be higher: In this country, the best-selling model, the Renault Zoe, already comes in the entry-level version over 240 kilometers (NEDC).

Lower power consumption and larger batteries, together with increasing sales, have recently doubled the total electrical range available worldwide: In 2018 as a whole, it was 410 million kilometers.
