Soon the engines will start again for one of the most exciting events of the year: that 24h race at the Nürburgring. From May 14th to 17th, 160 vehicles compete on the legendary Nordschleife for the largest and toughest race in the world. Also there is Reifenparter Dunlop again this year, always on the hunt for a prestigious overall victory and the proof that they are better than the competition.
The Hanauers even recorded a premiere at the 43rd edition of the race: for the very first time, the latest generation of Dunlop GT3 racing tires will be used in the endurance classic.
They were developed for months by an international Dunlop team and then produced in Hanau, Hesse. Alexander Kühn, Head of Dunlop Motorsport, says: “During the winter break, we carried out intensive tests and developed GT3 tire specifications for a wide variety of weather conditions. With the new profiles and compounds, we are well positioned for the 24-hour race. Dunlop has a decade-long tradition in endurance racing with more victories in the Green Hell and in the 24-hour race in Le Mans than any other tire manufacturer. I am certain that the Nordschleife teams will benefit in future from our extensive Nordschleife know-how and the high level of development expertise of our international team. ”
As one of the first vehicles, the Premio team's Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3, under the direction of team boss Hans-Peter Naundorf, will be equipped with the new mobile pedestals. Formerly touring car world champion Rob Huff (Great Britain) and veteran of Nordschleife Kenneth Heyer as well as Philipp Frommenwiler (Switzerland) and Christian Krognes (Norway) will start with the Dunlop-equipped AMG gullwing with the start number 33.
