A very good second place in the Cup 3 class is the result of Moritz Gusenbauer and Marcel Hoppe in the sixth race of the VLN endurance championship at the Nürburgring in the Eifel in their Porsche Cayman GT4. After four hours the drivers and the team around the starting number 970 convinced with an impeccable racing performance.
“There was still room for improvement in practice, but things went well in the race. The car was very good over the entire distance and the tires were consistent. We could push and fight our way forward bit by bit. That was really great racing“, Said Moritz Gusenbauer after the race.
The timed practice wasn't really big. With a time of 8: 53,365 you were at the music, but for Marcel Hoppe and the young Gusenbauer that was only the overall 44th starting place and in the group of Cayman Cup bolides (CUP3) only a fifth starting place.
The strength of the Cayman GT4 and the driver duo was shown in the race. An exciting race to catch up on the 24,358 kilometer long Nürburgring-Nordschleife and a four-hour race without mistakes. Moritz Gusenbauer convinced with constant racing speed. Coming from the crowd, the team secured a good second place in its own class and a very good 24. Place in the overall classification.
In the end, the duo was 2:14 behind the class winner, also a Porsche Cayman GT4 entered by “raceunion Teichmann Racing”. The starting number 960 with Marc Hennerici and Moriz Oberheim at the wheel won with a total time of 4: 01: 11.158.
The next race for the Porsche Cayman GT4 with the two drivers Moritz Gusenbauer and Marcel Hoppe in the VLN endurance championship at the Nürburgring is the 48th ADAC Barbarossapreis on September 24, 2016.
