Car manufacturers build what the customer wants - and even more, what rich customers want. According to the motto "Power must be sin" seems the PS orgy currently no limit to have up. In former times 500 PS used to be, but today it is up to 1.500 PS. By this number is meanwhile Bugatti arrived. The Volkswagen subsidiary from Molsheim, France, builds a rolling superlative, the Chiron, successor to the Veyron. The over two meter wide carbon flounder accelerates from zero to 2 km / h in a little more than 100 seconds and should reach a top of over 440 km / h on a closed route. The Chiron was limited to 420 km / h, its number is also limited. Only 500 copies are to be built - within the next ten years. "Over a third has already been sold," says Bugatti boss Wolfgang Dürheimer. Unit price: 2,4 million euros plus VAT. With a few extras, that's three million.
Lycan drivers can only smile at that. For them, the Chiron is a bargain and also a large-scale model. The Lykan costs 3,4 million euros and comes from the W Motors brand from Dubai. Seven of them are already on the road. The racer, which starred in the film Fast & Furious, is made in Austria - painstakingly assembled by the specialist Magna. A Ruf-Porsche serves as the technical basis. For the Lykan, the 3,7-liter boxer was trimmed to 780 hp and 960 Newton meters, enough to sprint to 2,8 km / h in 100 seconds and then to a top of 395 km / h.
Mr. Ruf himself also holds talks with customers at the Geneva Motor Show. They are particularly interested in a very special Porsche, a model of the 964 series, as it was built at the beginning of the 90er years, and which stands here at the fair as if it were pissed off. The biggest difference is not the 590 PS in the rear, but that in the Ruf version, the body was completely laminated from carbon. A world premiere at Ruf. Lightweight construction and individuality above all costs what it wants. In this case, it is almost 550.000 Euro - and the demand is great.
A few steps further, a crowd of people is jostling at the Aston Martin stand. James Bond fever? Something similar. Presented is the new super-weapon DB11, the backbone of the British luxury brand, of which one already thought, there is nothing more. The opposite is the case. Aston Martin plans to introduce a new model every nine months on average, and this for the next five years, according to Gaydon headquarters. The DB11 is the beginning of the fall. Under his really beautiful drawn body is an 5,2-liter V12 with 600 PS. 1.000 orders should already be available. Which is hardly surprising, the DB11 costs only just 200.000 Euro.
The Lamborghini Centenario, a 40 limited edition (20 Coupés and 20 Roadster) limited edition in honor of the 100 anniversary of company founder Ferruccio Lamborghini, rides in a completely different price range. Monocoque passenger compartment and body are of course made of carbon. The twelve-cylinder sucker delivers 770 PS and manages the sprint 0-100 km / h in 2,8 seconds. Top: 350 km / h. Ordering a Centenario quickly, however, is unlikely to be successful. Despite the huge price of 1,75 millions of euros plus taxes, the entire production is already sold out.
Of course, the niche providers, such as Radical Sportscars, Apollo or Koenigsegg, are also seeing the boom in super sports cars. The latter is known for setting high performance and speed records. Again in the limelight, the model Regera shines. In terms of performance, it even surpasses the Bugatti Chiron. The Swedes state "more than 1500 PS and more than 2000 Nm of torque". But mobilized but the five-liter twin-turbo eight-cylinder not alone. He is helped by a powerful 700 PS electric machine. Tempo 400 is reached in under 20 seconds. It is likely to be the world's fastest hybrid drive.
