Mercedes is also launching a coupé from its new C-Class. The sporty two-door car celebrates its premiere at the IAA (19. To 27. September) and will go on sale in December.
Visually, the coupé, like the sedan, is based on the brand's flagship: the S-Class. The rear of the smallest coupé in the Mercedes range is particularly reminiscent of that of its bigger brother. All in all, the new model is much more confident than the previous model that has been on offer since 2011. Unlike there, frameless doors are now available for the first time - a typical coupé feature. However, the B-pillar remains, which purists could criticize.
The interior of the coupé is strongly based on the sedan, although the sense of space for the occupants in row one is said to have been slightly improved. Among other things, due to a subtle growth in width and an extended wheelbase (overall, the coupe is almost ten centimeters longer than the sedan).
In terms of equipment and engines, the coupe uses the sedan. At the start there are four four-cylinder petrol engines with output values between 115 kW / 156 hp and 180 kW / 245 hp as well as two diesels with 125 kW / 170 hp and 150 kW / 204 hp, also both four-cylinder. In addition, the AMG variant with up to 375 kW / 510 hp is likely to blow to the now much weaker rivals BMW M4 and Audi RS5 at the turn of the year. But the other models should also get a noticeably sporty touch, differentiate themselves from the sedan, for example, by sport seats and a lower body. On request, there is also a particularly tight sports suspension, but also adaptive dampers and even air suspension.
Mercedes does not yet list prices. In the previous generation, the surcharge was relatively comfortable with at least just under 600 euros. It is unclear whether this will remain the case, but the coupé will definitely be more expensive than the sedan (from 33.707 euros).
