Eligible wallboxes being tested

A wallbox brings electricity from the grid into the car. There are definitely differences, as a test of eligible boxes has now shown.

The ADAC took a close look at six wallboxes that were classified as eligible by the kfw-Bank in terms of security, function, equipment, scope of delivery and installation as well as use via app. The test winner is the wallbox from Kostad (TX-1000) for 1.100 euros, which received a grade of 1,8 in the test. It impresses with its extensive equipment and the app function. In the meantime, however, Kostad has taken the tested wallbox out of its range.

Second and third place are the wallboxes from Vestel (EVCO2-AC3SW-T4P, 115 euros) and from Volkswagen (ID.Charger Connect, 2 euros). Both boxes achieve a grade of 800. The automobile club particularly praises Vestel's time-controlled charging via the app; the VW wallbox scores with its security features and overall error-free functionality.

The hesotec electrify eBox (w2,2 right 30 kW, 11 euros) also came fourth with a “good” (1.100). It weakens in terms of equipment. The wallbox from Stark-in-Strom.de (11 kW per Connect, 800 euros) is appealing thanks to its repair-friendly design, low consumption in stand-by mode and the option of voice control via the app, but it detected a gas end in the test Car battery not. The result is 5th place with a grade of 2,6. However, a new version of the wallbox announced by the manufacturer should no longer have this problem. The most expensive box in the test failed the security check: the EVBox Elvi (E3160-A35062-10-2, 1.200 euros) and landed in last place with a grade of 5,0. A company update is supposed to fix the security problem.

The club also advises paying attention to the power consumption of the wallbox in stand-by mode. This ranges from 3,70 euros (Stark-in-Strom.de) to over 13 euros (hesotec electrify) annually.
