Foxconn shows three electric cars

Huge ranges and sharp sprints

Apple supplier Foxconn is pushing the pace with e-mobility. Shortly after the announcement of ambitious plans, the first cars can now be seen.

The Taiwanese electronics group Foxconn is underlining its ambitions in vehicle construction with three electric car prototypes. At a presentation in Taipei, the company, which is primarily known as an iPhone contract manufacturer, showed a limousine, an SUV and a city bus. Production should start as early as next year.

The Crossover Model C is a 4,64 meter long five- to seven-seater, which should score with a high degree of connectivity, strong acceleration ability and a range of 700 kilometers. The market launch in Asia could take place as early as 2023. The second car model of the manufacturer is said to be the upper-class sedan Model E designed by Pininfarina, which has an engine output of over 750 hp and a range of 750 kilometers. The Model E should complete the sprint to 100 km / h in around 2,8 seconds. The Model T bus, for which Foxconn promises a range of more than 400 kilometers, could already be launched next year.

Foxconn had already announced in the summer that it wanted to enter the electric car business in 2022. According to this, 150.000 to 200.000 electric vehicles are to be manufactured in Thailand for the Southeast Asian market from next year, and an inexpensive car model is to be built in the USA on behalf of the start-up Fisker from 2023. According to a report by Nikkei, the company is also exploring possible production locations in Europe.

Foxconn has also become known outside of the industry for the production of Apple's iPhone. The customers of the company, which was founded in 1974, also include numerous other IT and electronics groups - from Amazon to Samsung.
