Mercedes begins production of its first battery electric SUV and opens the order books on time. Interested parties should, however, hurry up.

For the current year and 2020 Mercedes expects demand to significantly outstrip supply; However, the manufacturer does not say how many vehicles will be built in the Bremen plant during this period.

At the start there is the 300 kW / 408 PS strong all-rounder for 84.930 Euro as a special edition model "1886 Edition", which is to remember the Mercedes patent motor car from the same year. Features include design enhancements such as 20 inch wheels and two-tone upholstery, plus a Burmester sound system and a service pack that includes pickup and delivery, and a warranty extension.

The Mercedes competes against Audi E-Tron, Jaguar I-Pace and Tesla Model X among others. In this quartet, Stuttgart is the cheapest for at least a few thousand euros.
