Glickenhaus on the pole position!

Westphal grabs pole position for 45. ADAC Zurich 24h race

  • Glickenhaus driver wins the "Glickenhaus Trophy"

The American Jeff Westphal sensationally secured pole position for the 45th ADAC Zurich 24h race with a super-fast second lap. Westphal set the fastest time in the Top 8 qualifying in 15,427: 30 minutes and will therefore start the race twice from start one on Saturday at 15:30 p.m. in the SCG003C with the starting number 704. Next to Westphal on the front row is his compatriot Connor de Phillippi, who was only 29 seconds slower in the country Audi with the number 8 in 16,102: 0,675 minutes.

"The lap was hard on the limit, I had a lot of oversteer. That was simply the motto all or nothing today, "said Westphal. "The first round was pretty good, but there were a few places where things went better." Westphal also secured the "Glickenhaus Trophy". The challenge cup 2016 American film director James Glickenhaus, who has built the team Dream Motorsport of Westphal donated. So the team boss had the pleasure to present the trophy to his own driver. "The 24h race at the Nürburgring is like Woodstock - a motorsport festival," says Glickenhaus. "I am proud that our pole-position team is becoming part of this legend today."

The second row went to Robin Frijns in the WRT-Audi with the number 9 and the Wochenspiegel driver Jochen Krummbach in the Ferrari with the number 22. The DTM drivers Nico Müller in the number 10 and Mike Rockenfeller in places five and six number 5 the good overall result of Audi.

Last year's winner Maro Engel, who was not in the top 30 Qualifiying in the number 1, but the number 3 Black Falcon, was seventh best driver of Mercedes-AMG. Sven Müller placed the fastest Porsche in eighth place, Augusto Farfus the best BMW in 10. The best Bentley was with Christian Mamerow on rank 13.
