Nissan GT-R - Too loud for Europe

Godzilla leaves Europe: Nissan withdraws its supercar GT-R from the program. And gives two reasons for this.

Nissan takes the supercar GT-R in Europe from the market. The last units will be built at the end of the month and will be delivered to the customer in June. Nissan cites the future noise emission regulations and declining customer demand as the reason for the exit. In other parts of the world, the all-wheel drive with up to 441 kW/600 hp remains in the range.

Cheap doesn't mean cheap with the GT-R

The coupé, also known respectfully as “Godzilla”, celebrated its premiere in 2007. Since then, Nissan has carefully kept the 2+2 seater up to date. With prices sometimes far below 100.000 euros, it was and is significantly cheaper than comparable super sports cars, but was still able to convince with strong driving performance and dynamic character. Therefore, and due to its prominent appearance in many video games, the GT-R is still one of the most important image bearers of the brand. In Germany, however, this was no longer reflected in sales figures: while more than 200 units were sold per year at the best of times, only a double-digit number of customers ordered the most powerful Nissan.
