News: Peugeot 2008 - Facelift for the crossover

The Peugeot 2008 floats on the wave of time: short dimensions, a pleasing design, a higher entry, a robust off-road look - a typical crossover. The small car, based on the Peugeot 208, mimics an SUV with its add-on parts, but refrains from four-wheel drive, since most interested parties would not do so anyway. The French have now made the practical small car fit for its second half of life and given it a facelift.

The 2008 Peugeot will then be on display in Geneva. But his design adjustments are only noticeable at second glance. True to the motto “never change a winning team”, the retouching of the design was sparse. Overall, the look is a bit more robust and suggests more off-road mobility. However, it should be clear to everyone that the Peugeot 2008 is still not an off-road vehicle. The radiator grille, which now has vertical struts and integrates the Peugeot brand emblem, has been adapted. Of course, the bonnet was not untouched, as the logo disappeared from it. There are also wheel arch extensions in dark plastic, which emphasizes the robust look. In addition, the little Frenchman shows new taillights and a new red paint job that looks good on him.

In terms of equipment, the French now created the GT Line, which is to position the crossover higher. 17-inch alloy wheels, black design elements that shine in chrome on the other models and corresponding lettering help on the outside. Inside, the GT touch is made clear by corresponding door sills, aluminum pedals and floor mats. There is also a red LED ring around the instruments, a red theme for the infotainment screen and colored stitching wherever you look. Soagar the seat belts wear the signal color.

On the subject of infotainment: Peugeot now offers a mirror screen function for the 2008. This enables the driver to connect his Mirror Link-compatible smartphone to the vehicle. The well-known Carplay is also available to Apple users. This increases security because you no longer have to take your mobile device in your hand. In terms of safety, the Peugeot 2008 has already increased: The Active City Brake is supposed to avoid accidents, while the rear-view camera shows the area behind the car. This not only avoids unsightly scratches or bumps, but also your contact with children or animals that you might otherwise not see.

There are three petrol engines available for the engines. They basically have an 1.2 liter displacement and provide 82, 110 or 130 PS. The latter two have a turbocharger. Consumption should be between 4,4 and 4,9 liters on average. Naturally, the diesel engines are somewhat more frugal, all of them with 1,6 liters. The performance ranges from 75 PS and ends with 120 horses under the hood. The French indicate consumption with 3,5 to 3,7 liters.
