News: Peugeot Foodtruck - Food on wheels

Apart from kitchen professionals, hardly anyone thinks of a shapely pepper mill Peugeot , The same is probably true for all other design areas except the automobile. There is a whole department at the lion brand since 2012, which deals with beautiful far from the vehicle. After, for example, watches, furniture and a piano, the Design Lab team has now for the first time conceived a show car with which the term "food on wheels" at the Milan EXPO wants to give a new meaning.

However, the Peugeot Foodtruck will not complement the product portfolio. The mobile called "Le Bistrot du Lion" just shows how mobile gastronomy could work in the future. The rolling café is based on the Peugeot Boxer and looks in the closed state thanks to some fine optical grinds only a touch fancier than the standard box van. However, if he opens all his doors and transforms into the bistro together with the trailer, nothing remains of the boring workhorse.

Four grill and induction plates, a fryer, crockery and cutlery for 30 people are on board. Even the seemingly small trailer transforms to the second half of the café under the open sky. It includes an integrated espresso machine as well as a 400 liter cooling underground for food and a 350 liter large beverage chest.

However, Peugeot's first mobile restaurant does not just want to be an ordinary place to eat, it also wants to make shared dining an experience. Thus, one of the two counters can also become a DJ console that distributes music via a sound system consisting of eight mid-range and 32 tweeters.

"The adaptability of the food truck was central to us," says Cathal Loughnane, head of the Peugeot Design Lab. "The vehicle should adapt to all environments, from the small market on narrow Parisian streets to the big event." On the latter draws the "Bistrot du Lion" now. It is on its way to Milan, to the World Expo EXPO, where visitors to the French pavilion are to be supplied.

Also included is the specially created salt and pepper mill set Milan, which will be officially available thereafter. Developed the eponymous founding family Peugeot 1874 their first pepper mill, are now sold around 2,5 million copies per year. The food truck does not offer Peugeot, but perhaps, he inspires one of the many outfitters, which provide not only Peugeot commercial vehicles with special bodies.
