Porsche gives the Panamera more horsepower. Much more.
Porsche has given the Panamera a generous performance upgrade. The most powerful variant of the luxury class sedan and the shooting brake offshoot Sport Turismo will in future have 463 kW / 630 PS, plus there is a new power plug-in hybrid and a revised chassis. The visual changes, however, are moderate.
The four-door was not weak before the lift either, as the top petrol model “Turbo” achieved 404 kW / 550 PS. However, since the launch of the second Panamera in autumn 2016, the competition has upgraded, for example in the form of the BMW M8 Gran Coupé, which offers 460 kW / 625 PS. So there is reason to buy more: With the Panamera "Turbo S", a new top model with 463 kW / 630 PS and all-wheel drive technology is now entering the drive portfolio. The engine is the 4,0-liter V8 petrol engine, which has also served in the previous top-of-the-range “Turbo” variant. It will no longer be offered in the future.
The other petrol variants remain in the program. The 4,0-liter V8 of the Panamera "GTS" in a slightly stronger form with 353 kW / 480 PS, the 2,9-liter V6 engines of the basic models remain unchanged with 243 kW / 330 PS. The plug-in hybrid variant of the six-cylinder engine, on the other hand, offers more power than the previous model, which has 412 kW / 560 hp and also has a larger battery, which now enables an electric range of 54 kilometers (NEDC: 64 km ).
Externally, the lifted Panamera can be recognized by the revised light strip at the rear, among other things. The previously optional sports front is now always emblazoned at the front. The Turbo S has a specific design with larger air inlets. All model variants also receive a modernized infotainment system with improved voice control. Prices start at 91.345 euros for the Panamera with rear-wheel drive, which is only a few hundred euros more expensive. The top model Turbo S costs from 179.737 euros.
