It's almost a youngtimer, the Porsche Carrera GT. It was built in Leipzig between 2003 and 2006. Nevertheless, it is still one of the most exciting super sports cars in the world. A customer from the USA wanted his Carrera GT to shine in new splendor. The Porsche restoration department, Porsche Classic, now presents us with the spectacular rebuild of a Carrera GT.
Porsche Classic is a special department that takes care of vehicles that were produced more than ten years ago. These include sports cars such as the 356, 914, 959, 911, 924, 928, 944, 968 and the Carrera GT.
The American collector had his Carrera GT completely overhauled. After a complete disassembly of the super sports car, every component was checked, refurbished or replaced. Now it is brand new in front of us.
Complete restoration of the supercar
In addition to a complete overhaul of the engine, transmission and chassis components, the Carrera GT also received a new paint job. The owner chose Oak Green Metallic. A color that first appeared in the 1970s but was never available for the Carrera GT.
When rebuilding the Carrera GT Porsche Classic has also redesigned the magnesium wheels. The rim ring was coated with silver and then with clear varnish. As a contrast, the rim star received a gold finish. Many other gold-colored accents are discreetly distributed over the entire vehicle.
Repair of the carbon fiber parts
That alone took 350 hours Porsche classic-Team hand sanding and recoating the carbon fiber parts including the monocoque. 15 years ago, the total production time for an original Carrera GT in Leipzig was only 175 hours.
The restoration is impressive. A unique Porsche Carrera GT was created, a milestone in the world of Supercar.
