Renault ZOE wins Electric Vehicle Rally

The 4th North European E-Mobile Rally ended on Sunday in Flensburg with a surprise victory for the team Christopher Drechsler (Trappenkamp) and Gerd Uwe Drescher (Lübeck) in a Renault ZOE from the Lüdemann & Zankel (Kaltenkirchen) car dealership. Gerd Uwe Drescher only jumped in as a substitute co-driver shortly before the start, but the newly formed team got along so well from the start that they were the best in the 22 special stages - a mix of regularity and orientation drives - with only 41,75 minus points managed. An Austrian-German pairing with Konrad Warch (Götzis) and Werner Stein (Hamburg) on a Nissan Leaf from the Hamburg dealership Günter followed in 2nd place with 51,3 points.

Last year's overall winners had once again traveled to the far north from Munich in a Tesla Roadster to defend their title. Hans Haslreiter / Wolfgang Schöner came with 53,28 points to an excellent 3rd place out of the 31 team. They were followed by the veterans Michael Leschek / Holger Haulsen, who brought a Mitsubishi EV from the Schleswiger Stadtwerke to the finish on the Flensburg Südermarkt with 54,03 points. Janik Buck and Marius Schildknecht (both 21 from Sarau), were the youngest duo in the field and also reached the finish in the Fördestadt in a Mitsubishi EV (54,51 points) after more than 525 kilometers through Denmark and Schleswig-Holstein offered the participants a magnificent backdrop in brilliant weather.

In the specially announced journalist ranking, Team Warch / Stein from "MotorNews at" placed in front of the editorial office BBS with Buck / Schildknecht. The third place of six editorial teams went to the IHK in Lübeck. At the university CUP, the Kiel University of Applied Sciences won the Peugeot iON with Marc de Groot / Zeno Müller in front of the duo of RBZ Technik Kiel with Matthias Nienaß and Guido Frevert in the Smart Electric Drive.

The Northern European E-Mobile Rallye is honorary organized by ECO-Mobility eV from Kiel and the Automobile Club of Lübeck eV in the ADAC. During the three-day event, the ADAC local clubs from Flensburg Automobile Club and MSC Nordmark Kiel helped with numerous helpers. This competition could only be carried out with further support from companies and institutions. This aid came from the IHK Schleswig-Holstein, the Udviklingsråd Sonderjylland, the city of Vejle and the GreenTech Center from Vejle in Denmark, the electricity provider GrundGrün from Berlin, the GreenTec Campus from Enge Sande and the IBG Technology Hansestadt Lübeck GmbH. Since this eco-friendly rally is only allowed to be driven by electrically powered vehicles, it is one of the largest events of its kind in Europe.
