Renault Alpine - History repeats itself

The rebirth of the Alpine brand was in itself a pretty tough act and similarly the information policy of the French until the presentation of the official production version at the Geneva Motor Show (9 until 19, March). Now, a few days before the trade show premiere, has Renault published two first pictures of the production version and betrayed the name of the model.

The mid-engine flounder, which will revive the legendary sports car brand, is - like the historical model - Alpine A110. The new edition also has some visual similarities to the original Alpine, although it is of course a modern sports car with chic LED lights and expressive beads in sheet metal.

The body of the Alpine A110 is largely made of aluminum

But like the Alpine model from the 1960er years, the modern Alpine should be really fast. That's why Renault has chosen, among other things, a lightweight body made largely of aluminum. The sprint time from standstill to Tempo 100 should succeed in 4,5 seconds. However, further details on the drivetrain and performance will only be revealed at the Geneva premiere.

Incidentally, since the end of 2016 you can pre-order the A110 via smartphone app. Offered is limited to 1.955 vehicles Première Edition for the price of 55.000 to 60.000 Euro. The first copies of this edition are to be delivered to customers at the end of 2017. (Mario Hommen / SP-X)
