News: Renault Kadjar - The French Qashqai

With the Kadjar, Renault now also has a medium-sized SUV in its range. The French have the genes of Nissan Quashqai.

With the Kadjar now too Renault a medium-sized SUV in the program. The genes of the Nissan Qashqai are in the French. The Renault is seven centimeters longer, but rolls on the same platform. However, there is no risk of confusion. The similarities remain hidden and invisible to the viewer.

Like the smaller Captur, the Kadjar also has the new Renault face with the dominant brand diamond in the center. In addition, narrow headlight eyes (for a surcharge also in LED technology), circular additional lights on the sides under the curved bumper. The bonnet with a central bead is quite high and is limited by narrow sheet metal flanks. On the sides, the kadjar makes thick cheeks over the wheels, which make it appear bulkier than the paper shape promises. In contrast, the Frenchman's good end with the tailgate swinging far upwards is visually more reserved.

In the manageable range of fairly small engines (two diesels, one petrol), the 1,6-liter diesel with 96 kW / 130 PS will probably win the race for the favor of German customers.

There is more than enough space in the rear seats, the trunk with its flexible loading floor offers amazing storage space of up to 1.478 liters. The two-part loading floor can also be positioned vertically as a trunk divider, thus preventing luggage from slipping. The backrest backrests can also be unlocked from the tailgate.

Renault also made an effort in the choice of materials in the interior. Depending on your wallet, bezels in matt chrome or the noble-looking panels of the lower part of the center console distract from the naturally plentifully built-in black plastic. The displays in the instrument cluster provide information using TFT technology and can be designed according to taste. In addition to the navigation system, the 7-inch monitor also provides online access with special apps.

Renault offers all of this at reasonable, sometimes pleasantly moderate prices. The 1,2-liter petrol engine (96 kW / 130 PS) is available from 19.990 euros, but then in a very lean configuration.
