Thirteen - an ominous number for many. 13 million, on the other hand, are not bad parents if you have them in your account, for example. Renault has another 13 million: this number represents the units of Renault Clio sold since the first generation saw the light of day. Now the fourth generation of the French small car has been made fit for the second half of life. But many of the retouches are subtle, so you have to look twice to see the facelift.
But why does a facelift always have to move mountains? The Renault Clio was and is an attractive small car and only needed a few movements to look a little younger again. Instead, the radiator grille was given slightly more striking cross struts, which are accompanied by a front apron that has also been redesigned. Optionally, the Renault Clio now illuminates the darkness with LED headlights - not every small car can do that. The daytime running lights - also in LED technology - form an asymmetrical "C" and should create more independence. At the rear, the viewer can also look forward to a newly designed rear apron, which, however, does not immediately catch the eye. More obvious are four new paint colors, of which the intense red goes particularly well with the Renault Clio.
Of course, the French also adapted the interior of the small car. When it comes to space, everything remains the same, while the materials should now correspond to those of higher vehicle classes. This should be expressed in an increased optical and haptic quality, such as on now grained plastic surfaces. New upholstery and a slightly matt chrome trim match the usual facelift approach.
Under the sheet metal the offer at engines was extended. So now joins a new top diesel, the Renault calls ENERGY dCi110. It is combined with an 6 manual gear shift. Even the top gasoline engine, the ENERGY TCe120, can now be ordered with a manual 6 gear box. In this variant, the engine is recently introduced Renault Captur Crossboarder available. This results in a total of eleven drive variants in the Clio - unique in the small car class.
In infotainment, the Renault Clio sets on three different variants, including, among other things, the well-known R-Link Evolution, all of which are up to date. The smartphone connection is also provided in the systems, such as apps that reflect the infotainment on the smartphone. Available in addition to a Bose sound system, which should ultimately be synonymous for another spark premium claim. The reversing camera and the semi-autonomous parking and parking assistant fit in that. So the French certainly tie in with old successes.
